Bed bugs
Size: 4-5mm long
Colour: reddish brown
Bed bugs are small, flat, reddish-brown insects that feed on blood and are highly skilled at hiding in small cracks and crevices. They are commonly found in mattress seams, bed frames, headboards, baseboards, furniture, and other areas close to where people sleep or rest.
Bed bugs are difficult to detect because they are excellent at staying hidden during the day. Common signs of an infestation include small dark spots on mattresses or bedding (fecal staining), shed skins, tiny eggs, blood spots on sheets, or seeing live bugs around sleeping areas.
Bed bugs can spread quickly throughout a home, apartment, hotel, or business as they move between rooms and travel on clothing, luggage, furniture, and personal belongings. Because they reproduce rapidly, early detection and professional treatment are important to prevent a small problem from becoming a larger infestation.
If you suspect bed bugs, avoid moving furniture or personal items to other areas of your home, as this can unintentionally spread the infestation. Contact a PreventX professional for proper identification and a customized treatment plan.
