Flies are one of the most common nuisance pests found in homes and businesses throughout Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Attracted to food waste, garbage, organic debris, and moisture, they can reproduce rapidly when suitable breeding sites are available. Many species begin their life cycle as larvae (maggots), and under ideal conditions, fly populations can grow quickly if left unchecked.

Proper sanitation is one of the best ways to help prevent fly infestations. Keeping garbage containers tightly sealed, regularly cleaning drains, removing food waste, and storing ripe fruit properly can significantly reduce breeding opportunities around your home or business.

In addition to being a nuisance, flies can contaminate food and surfaces by picking up bacteria and other pathogens from unsanitary areas. They have the potential to spread organisms associated with illnesses such as Salmonella, E. coli, and other foodborne diseases, making prompt control especially important for restaurants, food service facilities, and commercial properties.

At PreventX, our licensed technicians identify breeding sources, recommend sanitation improvements, and provide targeted treatments to eliminate fly infestations and help prevent them from returning.
